Chapter-by-chapter breakdown below:

My reason for delight is that the book will be a real help to those who have to practise surgery at the front line. For too long such colleagues, whether surgical clinical officers or medical officers, have not had a book which was written for them, to enable them to treat rural patients, the injured and those who are unable to meet the costs of travel to, and accommodation at, a regional or national teaching hospital. I believe that if the book’s sound common sense and clear practice are followed, the victims of injury will be treated early and acute emergencies will be dealt with before they progress and complications develop.
